We are excited to share that Reliance eHealth Collaborative has successfully established a connection to SacValley MedShare (SVMS) in Northern California through the Sequoia Projects eHealth Exchange initiative. SVMS is the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) that serves a 16-county region of California north of Sacramento, which includes the North Central Valley and the surrounding mountainous areas. With the successful HIE-to-HIE connection, Reliance and SVMS participants can now search for their patients records and access information at the point of care regardless of which state their patient received services.
This connection is of value and benefit to Reliance participants that regularly see patients from communities in Del Norte, Siskiyou, and Modoc counties in California. For many of these California communities’ patients can access primary care providers in their local community but their closest access to higher acuity care is across the border in Southern Oregon. The SVMS connection will allow Reliance users the opportunity to access these patients records and then afford their Primary Care providers equal capabilities when the patient returns home.
