During the last year, 36 new health care organizations joined the Reliance eHealth Collaborative. We’re happy to welcome them to a community of HIE users working to provide effective quality patient care. They join an ever-growing list of participating hospitals, health plans, primary care and specialty offices, laboratory and radiology centers, post-acute and end of life care facilities. Each of these organizations is taking a critical step to meet various regulatory and condition of participation/contracting requirements while positively impacting the effectiveness, quality, and cost of care for patients.

While there are a few separate ways to take part in HIE many of these new participating organizations opted to participate by creating bi-directional interfaces between the HIE and their EHR. This method of participation has the greatest potential impact on effectiveness, quality, and cost of care for patients because it means that new information is available to other authorized users of the HIE for use in care coordination and case management.
